DUBAI - An increasing number of tourists from the Gulf are headed towards Ayurvedic resorts in the southern state of Kerala, particularly senior executives who are visiting these spas to refresh, revitalise and de-stress.
"With terrorist activities and political conflict affecting tourism in different parts of the world, there has been a recent surge in tourists from the Gulf who are making the most of special Ayurveda and rejuvenation packages offered by India," said Gour Kanjilal, Regional Director, West Asia, Government of India Tourism.
Tour operators in the Gulf have worked out special packages that include treatment, stay and transfer. Treatment commences after consultation with experienced physicians at any of the Ayurveda resorts and Spas. More than 120 agents from the Gulf were taken to sample the facilities at the Kerala Travel Mart who returned to work out special packages that were tailor-made to suit the taste of Middle East tourists. Anti-stress massage and skin care packages have received the most popular ratings among executives here.
